BONEzMAN

WEB Design? Well, I was a computer consultant in a past life with lots of programming, database, and system knowledge in my background. I'm more a middle ware and back end designer than a front end designer. I can do front end work, but lean toward the spartan when laying out a page. This leads me to my philosophy on web design. It is a multi part discipline that needs the expertise of graphic designers, software engineers, database managers, and system integrators. I'm very strong in the last three and rather good at manipulating existing artwork, but creating the initial graphic design often eludes me. You might find this odd for a photographer, but my original artwork is on the other side of my lens. Once I have the photograph I can create the art from that. All this said, if you try to have someone who is an expert in only one of the for mentioned disciplines you will have a site that may look good, but runs very poorly or runs well and looks like crap.

I've done a few commercial web sites over the years of which most have been retired. Some due to the company no longer existing, and others moved on to another designer or solution that made better business sense. I currently support the technical side of one of those new solutions of ProAAL.com where they combined their WEBsite with their point of sales system. A business solution that was needed for them to grow as a company. There are still plenty of back end issues to resolve and integration with other retail sites such as Amazon and E-bay still require someone with programming skills to support. That's basically what I am doing in the WEB arena today.

I am still open to working on websites as long as it's not charity work (i.e. companies who want the world for nothing or next to nothing). Too many web people are doing it too cheap making it difficult for the entire market to recover. Sadly, it's been going on too long and now cheap is expected. So much for quality. I can fix your slow site, add features, redesign the code underneath to make it run as expected and still keep the look and feel of the original site.
